Project Overview
Boles, Smyth Associates partnered with PennDOT, the National Park Service, and local municipalities to advance the planning and design of the Sullivan’s Bridge Trail. This structure spans the Schuylkill River, connecting the Schuylkill River Trail to the extensive networks within Valley Forge National Historical Park and Upper Merion’s Heuser Park.
Navigating complex environmental constraints and coordinating overlapping construction zones, BSA facilitated one of the largest design-build structures in District 6-0 at the time using PennDOT’s Innovative Bidding Tool Kit. The project culminated in a strategic trail bridge right-of-way transfer to the National Park Service and West Norriton Township, preserving historical resources and permanently reducing state roadway maintenance costs.
