Project Overview
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Zip Ramp project involved the construction of a new limited-access ramp designed to provide a direct connection from the PA Turnpike at Fort Washington (PA 309) into the Greater Fort Washington District at Commerce Drive. The new ramp ties directly into the signalized intersection built as part of the independent Fort Washington Cross County Trail & Road Diet initiative. Originally identified in Montgomery County’s PA Turnpike Corridor Reinvestment Study, the ramp was successfully advanced by Upper Dublin through preliminary engineering, final design, and construction over an accelerated 619-day duration.
This infrastructure upgrade serves as the second phase of a comprehensive, long-term regional master plan to revitalize the Fort Washington Industrial Park into a mixed-use hub. By increasing vehicular connectivity from the Turnpike, the project stimulates local community growth and supports the ongoing transformation of the district into a vibrant neighborhood featuring new residential apartments, modern recreational facilities, and expanded commercial uses.
